Country House in Bridgetown

This beautiful, custom-designed eco-home is nestled in the country landscape of Bridgetown. The home features high ceilings, a massive entrance, and an open layout with expansive glass doors that open up to a beautiful deck, allowing for stunning, uninterrupted views of the natural surroundings. This fully electric construction includes high-performance insulation, double-glazed windows, and an innovative aerobic water treatment system. Built on screw piles to protect the site's natural environment, the home is designed for luxury, comfort, and sustainable, off-grid living.

The vision

Aline and David wanted to make a massive lifestyle change, transitioning from a highly urban city environment to a beautiful tree change in the country. They envisioned a luxury, sustainable home that felt natural and blended in with the environment, yet provided all the comfort of a regular house. Their goal was to achieve an "off-grid" feel without sacrificing quality, creating a self-sustaining haven with beautiful views that would allow them to relax and enjoy their new country lifestyle.

The problem

Before choosing a builder, Aline and David faced several challenges. They looked at traditional builders but found they required a concrete pad, which would have severely interfered with the natural surroundings and compromised the site's views. They also explored prefabricated homes but found them to be highly restrictive and too expensive.

Additionally, building in an isolated location, two and a half hours from Perth on an unsealed road brought up major concerns about the logistics of getting trades to the site, timeline blowouts, and escalating costs. They needed a builder who was flexible enough to accommodate their custom design and capable of managing a remote build efficiently.

The solution

Aline and David chose Eco Homes Group for their unparalleled flexibility and commitment to sustainable building methods. To preserve the land and the views, Eco Homes built the house on screw piles instead of a traditional concrete slab.

The project management team, led by Denise, oversaw the entire remote build. Despite the isolation, they flawlessly organised every single trade and maintained clear, collaborative communication. Every variation and cost was transparently discussed. When Aline requested a specialised aerobic water treatment system to be water-wise, Eco Homes eagerly stepped up to the plate, taking on the challenge without hesitation.

The result

The finished home is a stunning, highly efficient luxury retreat that perfectly captures the Bridgetown views. Delivered on time and within budget, the home performs exceptionally well in the country climate.

Thanks to the incredible insulation and double-glazing, the indoor temperature remains constantly comfortable year-round, regardless of extreme heat or cold outside, and noise suppression is fantastic. Fully electric and equipped with solar and battery power, the home allows Aline and David to be completely self-sufficient and off-grid. They now have a high-performing, beautiful sanctuary where they can sit on the deck, pour a glass of wine, and enjoy their tree change.
